UAB Accreditation Tips and Tools — April 2019

It's the 55th Anniversary of Accreditation!

Being Accredited is a big deal! Since 2019 is the 55th anniversary of Accreditation in Public Relations, it’s a great time to add one special event to your programming lineup that is for APRs only! Think about implementing one of the following ideas:

  • APR champagne reception at your annual conference.
  • APR-only networking lunch.
  • APR social gathering — meet at a local watering hole, get a block of tickets for a local sporting event, play, concert or speaker.
  • Host an APR-only forum where they are given a challenge issue to help solve for your Chapter or organization.

Already doing something special for the APRs in your Chapter or organization? Share it with others via our APR-only LinkedIn page. If you are not a member of this closed group, join today!

Publish an APR Op-Ed

Have places to share APR information, but no time to prepare it? Look no further than this APR Op-Ed that you can publish as is or edit as you see fit.

Pin-On Ceremonies or Selfies

Hold a pin-on ceremony where newly Accredited public relations professionals receive their APR pins in front of their peers. You also can ask APR members to send you selfies of them showing off their pins — and recognize APRs at all events in April. Post photos of the ceremony or selfies on social media or your organization’s website, and send to the UAB so we can share as well (email photos with a brief description to accred@praccreditation.org).

Video Testimonials

Thanks to the PRSA Alabama Chapter for sharing a great series of short APR testimonials that you can use — or create your own. These four testimonial videos are less than a minute each and give four different perspectives on the value of earning the APR. Find them here:
